News from Syntagon - 2007
June 2007
New co-worker: Andreas Fredman, M.Sc. - Associate Analytical Chemist.
Andreas Fredman finalized his M.Sc. in June 2004 at the University of Stockholm, Sweden. His thesis was in the field of molecular imprinted polymers and solid phase extraction. He was supervised by Dr. Lars I. Andersson at AstraZeneca R&D Södertälje. After almost 2 years at AstraZeneca Gärtuna Södertälje, Andreas joined Syntagon as an Associate Analytical Chemist in June 2007.
August 2007
20 L capability in Latvia.
Syntagon Baltic has added a 20 L reactor capability to its operations in Latvia. The new system has been up and running since October 2007.
May 2007
100 L hydrogenation equipment.
In May 2007, our capacity to run reactions at elevated pressure will be increased. Introduction of a 100 L mobile Büchi equipment allows us to run e.g. hydrogenations up to 10 bars on multiple kg scale.
May 2007
600 L reactor train.
As of August 2007, Syntagon will have a new QVF reactor train in operation. The new train has a reaction volume of 610 L and results in an expansion by 150 % compared with the current total capacity. At the same time, storage areas for raw materials and equipment will be expanded upon and the logistics for introduction into manufacturing areas will be further improved.
April 2007
NMR at Baltic site.
Syntagon Baltic has acquired a Varian Mercury NMR system which will be fully operational in May 2007. The system is equipped with 400 MHz Oxford Instruments magnet, 50 position auto sampler, a ProTune accessory and a broadband probe permitting to perform one dimensional 1H, 13C, 15N, 19F, 31P and two dimensional correlation experiments. “This instrument is a nice addition to Syntagon’s analytical capabilities allowing us to be generally more productive as well as to be more active in structural elucidations of impurities and reaction byproducts” according to Andis Slaitas, Site manager Syntagon Baltic.
